Looking to freshen up your dining room? Admittedly, not everyone uses their dining room as much as they'd like. However, updating your walls with a fresh coat of paint might give you a reason to.
When choosing a color for your interior painting project, it's great to see what's trending and perusing inspiration. But, it's crucial that you choose what's best for you, whatever fits with your space and personal style.
Brush & Roll Painting is a premier interior painting company in Omaha, NE. We know how crucial the right color is for your space. We also know how big of a decision it is to choose the shade you love the most.
We've rounded up some of our favorite dining room paint shades trending for 2024. Read on to see what we picked and what could be the next shade for your dining room walls.
Sure, this might be a no-brainer, but you really can't go wrong with crisp white walls in a dining room. If your dining room is lacking in size, white is an excellent choice as it will make your space appear larger. The light reflects the white paint and makes the ceiling look taller.
White walls will also let your dining furniture take center stage and allow you to add wall art or a mirror without too much competition to the eye.
An inky, moody shade of blue looks great in any room, but we love it in dining rooms as an accent wall or on all four walls.
Darker shades of blue and navy are elegant and pair well with all styles and sizes of dining rooms. Dark and navy blue will be all over in 2024.
It's amazing how versatile dark blue is—it goes with cool and warm tones, all interior design styles, and creates depth in small and larger dining room spaces. We love a mid-century modern dining room, farmhouse, or transitional dining room with dark blue walls.
Creamy beige walls are 100% anything but boring. This classic shade can pull different undertones depending on the natural light available in your dining room, so it never looks exactly the same from room to room.
Interior designers and color experts agree that timeless, neutral colors are inviting and comfortable if you're hosting guests. Shades of beige work with light woods, neutral accents, and all decor styles such as traditional, farmhouse, rustic, and transitional.
An ideal choice for a modern or classic dining room (or something of both), is gray. Gray is versatile enough for any setting. It plays with both lights and darks, can be warm or cool, peaceful or bold, and adds a touch of elegance.
Grey paint accentuates a mid-century modern dining room or farmhouse dining room perfectly. If you have natural light in your dining room, you'll find different shades of gray that can pull slightly green or blue.
Green is an earthy shade that adds tranquility and a touch of modernity to a space. A light green, pistachio hue is unexpected and enlivens a dining room. This trending shade isn't going anywhere, and we can see why. It's neutral enough to go with all decor styles and gives a hint of retro charm.
We hear that having red in a dining room can increase the appetite. Sounds promising! This explains why it's a popular color in restaurant dining rooms. The bold hue of red on the walls also complements traditional and modern styles. Red is a wonderful accent color as well, and if you have a small dining room space, a dramatic color like red will make a big impact.

Bill is the owner and operator of Brush & Roll Painting. Bill Carlson is a second-generation painter. He grew up working with his father’s painting and restoration company. After graduating from Bennington High School, he served in the US Navy, traveling with the boxing team. While this was a great opportunity to see the world, it also made him realize how much he loved his little world here in Nebraska. He settled back into the painting industry, working with his brother. It wasn’t long before Bill’s entrepreneurial spirit pushed him to start his own business. Always one for a challenge, he longed to prove to himself that he could be as successful on his own as both his dad and brother were.
