When you are cleaning your home, do you also take the time to clean your ceiling? Admittedly, not all of us do. But cleaning your ceiling is a great way to eliminate dust and grime and make any room look better. And if you're considering having your ceiling painted, cleaning your ceiling is one of the crucial steps of the painting process.
Though cleaning a ceiling can be a complicated matter, you can do a better job if you have some advanced knowledge of how to do it correctly. And before too long, it will be part of your regular cleaning routine. With this in mind, here are seven tricks to clean your ceiling before having your ceiling painted in Omaha, NE.
We're all used to wearing face masks, right? But they're not just for protecting yourself and others from illnesses. Face masks are an important part of cleaning your ceiling and can protect you from dust.
Specifically, you should wear an n95 face protector if possible (if not, other face masks will work) to protect your mouth and nose from breathing in the dust, dirt, and other things that you might find while cleaning your ceiling.
Better to wear a little protection for your face than to suffer from an allergic reaction or, worse, should you breathe in the dust that will likely be removed from your ceiling as you are cleaning it.
There are many ways to clean some of the more significant bits of dust from your ceiling, and getting up close is just one of them.
An alternative to doing this that can work just as well or better, depending on how you do it, is to use a vacuum attachment and raise it toward the ceiling.
There are many nozzles and bits that you can attach to the end of the vacuum cleaner such that you can clean the ceiling more thoroughly or even more carefully if you need.
It's entirely possible that if you have a popcorn ceiling, a wet solution to cleaning it is not a practical or a good idea.
With any given popcorn ceiling, using a wet cleaning solution to clean it runs the risk of damaging the ceiling and even having bits of it come right off it and fall onto the ground.
In some cases, when the popcorn is sufficiently dirty, it is best to mist with a cleaner or dab in the case of grease (not the dance move) than to try to moisten it thoroughly.
Even though you're going to be cleaning your ceiling, you still need to take the time to cover your floor with a tarp.
The reason this is a good idea is that you will undoubtedly knock down some grime off of the ceiling, and you don't want this to fall directly onto your unprotected floor.
Better to protect the floor first and then to clean your ceiling.
As you are cleaning your ceiling area, you're going to want to pay careful attention to your vent areas as there can be a lot of dust there.
While you are cleaning your ceiling, make sure that you clean the vents as well, because if you don't, it can end up spreading dust in the air, which is quite unhealthy.
Take the time to clean these vents somewhat regularly, and your lungs will thank you for it.
A simple way to clean your ceiling of dust is to use a microfiber duster. Using a microfiber duster has many benefits, including the fact that you aren't going to scratch the ceiling the same way you would if you used other cleaning techniques.
Lastly, think about the technique you use for cleaning: Would you try to tackle the whole ceiling at once or break it up?
Think of the ceiling as if you were looking at a piece of graph paper. Break it up into sections, then take it one section at a time, moving on to the next section once you have finished the first.
