With more people working from home these days, it's nice to have a dedicated office space. But even if you have a shared bedroom-office or living room-office space, you can still create a unique, inspiring space that's conducive to creativity. A beautiful workspace isn't required, but it definitely helps get us through the day.

Part of having an aesthetically pleasing home office is choosing the perfect paint shade. Some color schemes work better than others, and always go with what makes you happy and what you think looks best. But if you need a place to start, our color experts at Brush & Roll Painting have a few ideas. Read on to see our top 5 paint color ideas for your home office for 2020 and beyond.

Dark blue home office

1. dark blue

We heard that blue is the "official" color of productivity, so putting it on the walls of your home office sounds like a no-brainer. Not to mention navy blue is a beautiful color for just about any space from the kitchen cabinets to your small bathroom. Navy blue is classic and also promotes a feeling of calm and emotional balance. Get the look with Van Deusen Blue by Benjamin Moore.

Beige home office

2. Beige

We promise beige is not a boring color. Whether it's oatmeal, creamy beige, sand, or tan, beige is extremely versatile and easy to decorate with. Beige is a classically soothing shade with a minimalist vibe and its warmth can promote comfort and stability. One of our favorite paint shades is Bennington Gray by Benjamin Moore, which isn't too yellow or golden and definitely not gray as the name suggests.

Gray home office walls

3. Gray

If you want your home office to have a sophisticated vibe with subtle elegance, gray is your color. Gray is a neutral and an accent color and growing in popularity as a kitchen cabinet color, exterior paint shade, and bathroom wall color. You can go for a dark gray home office or a light gray home office depending on the impact you want it to make. We love a medium gray shade that leans both warm and cool like Benjamin Moore's Coventry Gray.

Home office with black walls

4. Black

If you feel like taking a risk with paint colors, a small space like a home office is the perfect place to do it. Some think black walls are scary but they're actually very glamorous and stylish. Black is impossibly chic and especially brings out gold hardware and modern accents. Choosing black as your wall color allows you to do something different than in the rest of your house. Get the look with Benjamin Moore's Soot.

White home office

5. White

Maybe you have a separate dedicated home office that's small or you have a shared space that you use as a workspace. Either way, having white walls will actually make your space appear larger. White reflects light and makes the walls and ceiling bigger. Plus, if you love having wall art, white is the perfect backdrop the won't overwhelm your decor. There are so many beautiful white paint shades out there, but Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore is a perennial favorite.

Now that you're inspired and have some paint shades in mind, consider what you love and what ultimately fits best with your space and personal style. A small space means you can take risks with color and try something different, like black or dark blue. And if you plan on lots of wall art or large wall art, a neutral color might be best so you don't compete with the focus.
